"Louise Lavergne (Tovatt) presented her "Yoga On The Go" program for our employees at New York Life Insurance Company on December 18, 2001…the attendance for this program was excellent which indicates, to me, that our employees were looking for a means to relieve stress.

Louise was energetic and knowledgeable about her subject matter; but, more importantly, she offered practical advice and modified exercises, which may be performed at the employee's workstations. Today's work environment is stressful; employees work long hours and often may not even take time for lunch; many cannot spare the time to attend an exercise class. This is the perfect solution.

The program was very well received and I have had many positive employee comments. I think that during this very difficult time in our Country, employers must do what they can to assist all employees with stress management; this program accomplishes that goal. Everyone may not be a candidate for an EAP program or he/she may not wish to join the Company health club nor have time to do so. Stress reduction is not only relative to productivity but Louise's class is a nice way to thank employees for coming to work, doing their day-to-day activities and facing lengthened commutes, daily, due to increased security measures. "Yoga on the Go" is a concept that offers the opportunity to bring to the workforce a stress reducing skill. This skill has proven to be practical, easy to implement and beneficial in a short period of time. Because the approach is ‘hands’ on it offers employees the chance to apply the new skill and adapt to it, giving them an immediate take away.
